Current Viewing: PAOLA PIVI : "Ok, you are better than me, so what?": Galerie Perrotin New York : 909 Madison AvenueSubmitted by Wayne on Thu, 2013-09-19 17:36.
Paola Pivi, I love you. I've been following you for sometime now, a little bit like a groupie and somewhat like a kid following a circus. Your circus is usually populated by the most fantastic menagerie of exotic animals doing hilariously domestic things. Like a leopard knocked out from sipping too many cups of tea from leopard rimmed tea-cups for instance. Apart from being accessible and appropriate for all ages, I love your wry, dry sense of humor. The best thing an adult can retain from childhood is a sense of mischief and of play. Your art is rife with that. I'm so happy that you are the inaugural artist in the New York Galerie Perrotin space. I love that Emmanuel kept the French spelling for the American market. I mean it took me a while to stop misspelling it as "galarie" in my posts but that's process right?...Make the mistake...and thus learn from trying.

"There has never been much evidence of work in Joe Bradley`s art, and therein resides much of its signification. The individual units of Bradley`s paintings have always been literally blank and, more significantly, militantly haphazard. With his works` scabrous, cheap surfaces; his "casualness" concerning proper leveling and hanging; and his ambivalent (if not antagonistic) attitude toward the conventionally stretched canvas, Bradley falls somewhere between a heroic practitioner of "grunge art" and a loafer."
