Phillip Glass' scoring: so easy to listen to...so intricately beautiful as sheet music
I'm literally listening to it right this minute. I think the way Glass modernizes all those old tropes of "classical" and "opera" via his hypnotic use of coiling sections of minimalist repetition is incredible. For me he is the greatest , the most accessible and the most prolific of all modern composers easily worthy of a slot besides 20th century pioneers like Debussy, Stravinsky and Stockhausen. Check out his website where be beautifully divulges the ideas behind some of his greatest recordings . This is what he had to say about "Symphony#5"
