SHOW PERFECT BEAUTY

Micheal T at Public Image is ITMicheal T at Public Image is IT

Time to cycle up for the SS 09 men's show castings. Public Image has a show perfect beauty in the form of Micheal T and the buzz on this boy is about to hit maximum! Question though. Who is the market leader amongst men's designers these days? Prada? Lanvin? Can we hope for a clear sense of direction and will one brand emerge as most coveted? TI will not sleep till that crisis is resolved.

ANGEL ANGEL DOWN WE GO STARRING DAN CAMERON by JOE LALLY

Joe Lally strikes again in his latest exclusive edit. This editorial shot for THE IMAGIST is based on the wonderful AIP movies of the 70's, that were often an exploitation of the counter-culture youth market.
In this pictorial, PIW's model-actor Dan Cameron plays one of the characters in a film produced by AIP, entitled 'Angel, Angel, Down We Go', that actually starred Hollywood legend and movie star Jennifer Jones. Dan plays a hippie gone over the wire in a Los Angeles Cult.

Decadence by Joe Lally: Starring Zac Taylor

All this parisienne extravagance certainly puts you in the mood for some decadence which is where lovely Joe Lally comes in. He lensed this edit exclusively for TI and pulled in a brilliant team of collaborators, plus some fun jewelry to create this very special moment.

Money Boys Motions

Ryan Vigilant: Major Models: PH: Gregory VaughnRyan Vigilant: Major Models: PH: Gregory Vaughn

Now that the Money Girls list is locked and loaded, its time to swing the attention to the money-making men of modeling. Its a topic I'm sure the managers at Ford, Major, Public Image Worldwide, NY Models, Click, Red and Wilhelmina are bound to have a strong opinion about. MDC's Top 50 Men, for resaons of image, has always been very focused on those cutting edge, high fashion clients like the Calvins and Guccis and Pradas. But do the male models built on that platform cross-over to lucrative careers the way the women do?

Ryan Vigalant: Major: PH: Gregory VaughnRyan Vigalant: Major: PH: Gregory Vaughn

It is certainly a very different playing field than with the women, as there are no big VS contracts or big pay day cosmetics deals to weigh. There are however, the fragrances and Ralph and Hugo and...I wonder how much a long-running underwear spot compensates the wearer of the underwear these days. That makes boys like Major's Ryan Vigalant worth their weight in booking gold. Ryan has been growing his hair out and positioning himself for that very money-market we'll spend all next week weighing. Here's Ryan looking as Jason Kanner, his manager describes, "fresh, manly and on!". Love the buzzwords Jason.

CURRENT LISTENING:EVERYTHING PATRICK WOLF

Zeroes Hero: Patrick Wolf: The Magic PositionZeroes Hero: Patrick Wolf: The Magic Position

I was at a Halloween party last night and the host decided to have a "sensitive man" fest...David Bowie segued into Marc Almond which faded into Anthony &The Johnsons, climaxing with some vintage Patrick Wolf (Wind In The Wires) mixed with the latest Patrick Wolf. It was very strange party music I must say. I've resisted "The Magic Position" for months now but maybe because of all the dress up shenanigans that went down over the past 24 hrs I finally downloaded the album and got into the kitsch carnival spirit of the cover. And now that it has a context I love it. I think Patrick Wolf is going to be more than a fad. I think he's going to be a long distance runner and a great style icon. If The Imagist were in print he'd get a cover! Speaking of covers...Rufus Wainwright has model credentials now. He just signed with Public Image Worldwide. That just leaves Devendra Banhart, no?

Things unsaid. Things unread. The True IMG Men's story.

Clement: IMG's Men (soon to be P.I.W)Clement: IMG's Men (soon to be P.I.W)

In college they warned us that information was going to be THE hot currency of the 21st century. The man with the most information wins, was the thought... So here I sit at my desk awaiting a massive scoop for MDC. I'm staring, right this second at a breaking press release from the PR firm Onorato and Wixom regarding the purchase of the IMG Men's division by a group of private investors, in order to forge a new company as a partnership between former-CAA powerhouse Kevin Iwashina and the venerable (ex)IMG head Chris Forberg. I met earlier today with Chris and Kevin Apana and it is all system's go on the new property, Public Image Worldwide. I'm awaiting a phone call at 4.00pm from Mr Iwashina for a quick Q+A to go with the Of The Minute piece which we're drafting right now. We hope to be the first to break the details of this new partnership and we have to say, we're happy for all involved.TI can't wait to see the twin engines of this new shop fired up between NY+LA. The smart money says, book a first class ticket on this relationship now. Stay tuned!
