The Amazing , The Audacious Agyness Deyn!

God bless Agyness Deyn. I won't name any names but when you Q+A models for a living, that occupation can sometimes be challenging. Some girls are so young and so sweet, they say little. Not Agyness Deyn. The Mancunian icon is the single best model interview I ever did in my life. This was a Q+A we did last summer (it was a blazingly hot day in NY) at Superstudio Industria for a Spur magazine cover story that was being shot at the time. Forgive some of the references to clubs now defunct (Misshapes, Boombox) but I just wanted you to get the unedited Agyness Deyn experience. I wish you could hear her voice while we spoke. I laughed throughout the entire conversation because of that mad and adorable accent. She looked like this cute little anime figure with her blonde shock of hair standing on end like she had an electric current running through her. Agyness' vivid eyes twinkled with fun and mischief throughout the whole talk. After being stunned by her veeeery soigne and sophisticated SS08 Armani/Samsung ads as seen on frillr.com I thought it would be lovely to pull her tapes out of the archives. Here's the amazing and audacious Agyness Deyn on the record about her back story, her personal style and her plans for the future. The tape started rolling just as I was telling Aggy about the joy of growing up in NY.

TI:Its such a big city you can get a whole spectrum of experiences from it.
AD...and then again I think its so small in a way. I think , like you hang out in certain areas

QUENTIN HARRIS CAN GIVE IT!

TI loves the mad mixing of influences and references going in in the KMBA flyers. Viva NY!TI loves the mad mixing of influences and references going in in the KMBA flyers. Viva NY!

A great part of the myth of NY living (which I'm getting into again) is the dream of walking through the night dressed with as much freak appeal as you want to. Its about walking into a cavernous black hall with the speakers pumping a baseline so deep, it threatens to obliterate your heartbeat. You descend to the dancefloor and grinding on that pit is a multi-cultural , polysexual mixed bag of fashion students, art school drop outs, trust fund brats, club kids, drag queens, sexy babes, boy toys and uhm...models (preferably of high campaign distinction). Ruling above it all is usually a god-like figure...the legendary DJ.

SCOOP DU JOUR:VOGUE ITALIA JAN 07 : GUINEVERE!

There WAS a reason why the cover dropped so late. My Milan mole just texted me 2 secs ago to say he saw a bound copy of the mag with GUINEVERE on the cover. Waiting for the first look!...In other tales of world domination, Missy Rayder is now officially on the board of IMG.

Men On Show: MILAN + PARIS FW08

Red's Tyler Riggs is very coveted for the Milan/Paris Shows FW08Red's Tyler Riggs is very coveted for the Milan/Paris Shows FW08

At the women shows I look at the models. At the men's shows, I come with a magnifying glass seriously trained on the clothes. The clock's counting down to the FW08 men's presentations in Milan and Paris and this very specialized market-that of high end designer menswear - is in a very transitional place right this minute. Time was you knew what you would be getting well in advance when it came to "The Shows" . And what entertainment these shows would provide, Tom Ford's flagrant Gucci vs Miuccia Prada's highminded men's line. Raf Simons's art gallery perfect wauldrobe vs Galliano's flamboyant bucaneers. And then the piece de resistance. Hedi Slimane's rock inflected couture level work at Dior Homme. What clear identities they had then.
So what are the shows with the best advance billing right this minute? After being eclipsed by the perverse streamlining at Dior, the Prada suit has a lot of lost ground to cover. Oddly enough Ralph Lauren's return to Milan this season has high expectations building for the glimpse of some kind of spectacle, if not in terms of the looks which are sure to be conservative, then in terms of the show's production values. The revamp of Ferre, as previously mentioned on TI has the label whores (like us) drumming the thumbs in suspense.

CURRENT LISTENING: SEXUAL SPORTWEAR:SEBASTIAN TELLIER

Sebastian Tellier:Sexual Sportswear: Record MakersSebastian Tellier:Sexual Sportswear: Record Makers

Brace yourself. There's a new Sebastian Tellier album titled "Sexuality" about to drop. TI is betting a nice suite at the Plaza-Athnee that the lead single "Sexual Sportswear" is going to be played on many a men's runway for FW 08. Check out the super-French video at Myspace or youtube. How can we resist anything produced by one
"Guy Manuel de Homem Christo" with advance graphic work this kinky. Black and white, minimal sans serif but overlapping fonts and that strange colour somehere between pink and purple. Too Pigalle !

SCOOP DU JOUR: CHAD WHITE BLONDE!

Chad White: Major Models: Newly BlondeChad White: Major Models: Newly Blonde

You've seen it here first (well second after the kids at V mag). Straight from Mr. White's cameraphone a quick snap of the Chad's new hair color. Truly super-star, very boy Linda, no?

The JAMES TRUMAN TRUTH Of It ALL

Helmut Lang: Journal Gallery exhibitionHelmut Lang: Journal Gallery exhibition

10 years from now, when all things Zeroes are dredged up in the spirit of ironic retro, will they look at the decade's sustained fusion of art and fashion and giggle? Or will the union of the two most compulsive by-products of late capitalism spawn a deadly serious new hybrid, one with an unnatural long life? It is certainly starting to look that way recently with virtually every fashion publication worth its pulp splicing in a heavy dose of "art" to keep the pages crisp and current.

Every time I read the New York Times' T Magazine or their freshly launched blog "The Moment", I'm driven to think that fashion is nothing without art these days. If it weren't for V Magazine's front section I'd have no compass to track the dizzing cross-traffic of hot emerging young artists. W Magazine's art issue is the most obvious case in point. 07's issue didn't have the added sexy of 06's "Making Of Richard Tuttle/Mario Sorrenti" DVD but it did have the au courant Richard Prince covers. Surely you collected them all. Put them in a vitrine and one day you might position yourself as the next feted conceptual artist. Or as a purveyer of blue chip vintage fashion magazines. God bless Dennis Freedman.

Jeremy Santucci Is Major!

Just staggered off the plane from JA, sped home to sift through today's submissions. The highlight? Defintely the auadicious snaps of Major's Jeremy Santucci.

If ever TI's called upon to cast a "noble young Roman " type, Jeremy's first on the list. There's nude snap too but we're getting Jason Kanner's OK on that first! Hands up for the kids who want a peek?

JUST ADDED: Mr Kanner has given us permission to push the envelope. Tastefully!

Well, truth be told, I should say INTENDED Current Viewing.

NOMENU'S PLEASE!

Here's another Rad Hourani recommendation and as you've gathered from TI, we certainly respect that gentleman's tastes. It is for a creative new journal called "nomenusquarterly" and it is beautifully curated by artist Erik Madigan Heck to highlight a cross section of very inspirational talent in art/fashion/design/literature. Rad had an issue at dinner the last time we caught up in NY and it was beautifully designed and printed, an all the more impressive feat, given that Heck is 23 year olds. TI loves that a precocious generation of new creatives are marching across the cultural landscape and will be following the growth of this venture very closely. Young stylists, photographers and designers will love it as a potential outlet. Check it out at nomenusquarterly.com
