Rubchinsky's first collection, "Evil Empire" was made for and dedicated to youth, teenagers and children of the 90's
If I'm to buy any more menswear (sigh), I'm going to buy into a label that has a sincere discourse with the contemporary. Cause clothes should always be of their moment, no? That's an easy feat for Russian designer/artist Gosha Rubchinsky whose distillation of post 90's Russian youth culture builds his striking aesthetic from strains of black metal, sports and skateboard culture .
Well appointed cultural outposts such as 032c and Dazed Digital have been consistently telegraphing his message in the last two years . It will be highly interesting to see which consumer will pick up Rubchinsky's gauntlet, now that those legendary purveyors of youth, Simons and Slimane have ascended to those most rarefied of ateliers.
