I really adore the way that U mag's design ideas engage the current mutations in latter-day communication and language. Think of it as the logical continuation of U Mag's earlier play on the idea of pixelization and digital imaging. This playful co-option of the language of texting in the latest issue is super-fresh, very now and exactly the kind of thing I ache to see in mainstream graphic design. Bluntly put, the U Mag kids are putting a lot of marquee names to shame when it comes to innovation and experimentation. Methinks.
