Show 1 at the controversial Haunch Of Venison space goes up on Sept 12th
Haunch of Venison leaps from London to NYC with an opening exhibition on Sept 12 th titled "Abstract Expressionism-A World Elsewhere". There's been a frenzy of controversy around HOV primarily because the gallery was bought by François Pinault, the owner of Christie’s auction house. Naysayers consider that a big conflict of interest-an auction house that also has a gallery smacks of anti-trust issues for competing gallerists- but perhaps the more cogent question will be regarding the quality of the art being brought into play. TI can't wait to see what the paintings, sculptures and photographs of Franz Kline, Williem de Kooning, Lee Krasner, Barnett Newman, Jasckson Pollack, Mark Rothko, Aaron Siskind, David Smith and Clyfford Still spread about in a 17,000 square foot duplex might look like!
