Anne Eastman: You Are Not Just A Meaningless Fragment: 2008
Anne Eastman, an artist living and working in Brooklyn NY is a graduate of Yale's MFA Sculpture program and has been showing around town for the past 7 years at galleries such as Daniel Reich,ATM, V&A, Southfirst and P.P.OW. Her recent installation at Liste Basel has recently ignited a rising buzz around her strategic use of mirrored mobiles that serve both as object and an abstraction (the reflection) of the object. Its clean, neat, controlled work that falls very well into the industrial taste-point built at TI. It would be really interesting to see this restaged in NY . Not to cross compare artists, but I look at the frisson generated around Olafur Eliasson's technique driven work and the recent rise of Wade Guyton and suddenly Eastman feels as she falls into that "genre" , in a more contained and intimate way.
