Jane and Louise Wilson and the art of stasis
The 303 Gallery in NY has June 14 to August 2 slotted in for a Jane and Louise Wilson show and the suspense is focused around the question of whether this show will reflect a shift or a refinement of the themes that have made the pair famous. Working with film and photography these identical twins have generated incredible imagery of architectual sites that served as centers of power in a current state of abandonment and decay. It seems an easy theme but the detailing and the orchestrated visual sweep Jane and Louise Wilson give to places that have out-lived their purpose are incredible elegies to the idea of architectual stasis. I cannot wait to see what they emit at 303 in June!
